STATEMENT OF CONFIDENTIALITY AND SECURITY OF PATIENT INFORMATION

All patient information received by Manny Esh Respiratory Care, Inc. (MERC) is handled and held as confidential information.  Employee access to this information is restricted to those employees who need to know the information to provide patient care, to provide products or services, or to bill for products and services provided.
 
Information released to other individuals or entities is limited to those designated in a release form signed by the client or the client’s power of attorney.
 
Regarding the Administrative Simplification provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), MERC is making efforts to be compliant.  These efforts include restricting access to patient information, ensuring the compliance of entities with which patient information is exchanged electronically, and updating policies and procedures.
